925 Sterling Silver & 18K Gold

At Abboud Designs  each piece is crafted from premium materials 925 sterling silver, 18k gold, and carefully selected natural stones. With proper care, your jewelry will remain luminous for years to come.

About 925 Sterling Silver

Sterling silver naturally evolves over time. What some may call "tarnish" is simply the result of natural oxidation — a chemical reaction between silver and air or chemicals in its environment.

We exclusively use 925 sterling silver, meaning the piece contains 92.5% pure silver, blended with 7.5% copper to give it strength and longevity. Lower-quality silver (below 925) lacks durability and may discolor quickly — we recommend avoiding it entirely.

Note: While water won’t *damage* sterling silver, exposure to moisture combined with air or chemical products may speed up tarnishing.

Causes of Tarnishing (Sterling Silver)

Tarnish may appear over time due to:

High humidity or air pollution
Prolonged air exposure  without being worn — silver reacts slowly to sulfur in the air
Contact with chemicals, such as hairspray, perfume, lotion, deodorant, or bleach
Elevated salt levels in the skin or sweat

How to Prevent Tarnishing

To keep your silver radiant:

1. Wear it often. Sterling silver thrives on skin contact — wearing your jewelry regularly helps prevent tarnish from developing.
Note: For individuals with naturally high salt levels in their skin, frequent wear may have the opposite effect.

2. Store it correctly. When not in use, place your piece in a sealed, airtight pouch or its original box, ideally wrapped in clean cotton to minimize exposure to air.

3. Avoid chemicals. Keep your jewelry away from sprays, perfumes, lotions, chlorine, or cleaning agents that may react with the silver.

Caring for 18K Gold

18k gold is a precious metal known for its rich color and durability. Still, to preserve its brilliance:

Avoid direct contact with perfumes, creams, and sprays. Apply them first, and wear your gold last.
Remove gold jewelry before entering pools, the sea, or the shower. Chemicals and salt can dull the finish over time.
Polish gently with a soft cloth** to restore its shine. For occasional deeper cleaning, use warm water with a drop of mild soap and a soft cloth — then rinse and pat dry.
